MRS. GEORGIA LEE GARNETT TAYLOR was born on September 2, 1934, in Columbia County, GA to both the late Robert Garnett, Sr. and Emmie Williams Garnett. She entered eternal rest at the age of 90, on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at her home with family members at her side.
She joined Second Mount Carmel Baptist Church in Appling, GA at an early age, and later moved to Augusta, GA and began worshipping at the Broadway Baptist Church. Georgia was married to Deacon Griffin Taylor. She worked at Graniteville Mill for many years until she retired.
In addition to her parents, Georgia was preceded in death by her husband: Deacon Griffin Taylor; three sisters: Catherine Garnett, Juanita Johnson and Jessie Kenner, formerly all of Appling, GA; three brothers: Robert Garnett, Jr. formerly of Augusta GA, Nathaniel Garnett and Claude Garnett, both formerly of Appling, GA.
Our dearly beloved Georgia Lee Garnett Taylor leaves to cherish her memory: one stepdaughter: Nora (Joe) Lewis; two step-grandchildren: Maurice Lewis of Augusta, GA and Kenya (Kevin) Morris; four nieces: Joann Garnett, Betty Parks, Belinda Houston, all of Appling, GA and Peggy Story of Norfolk, VA; two nephews: William Garnett and Bobby (Catherine) Garnett, all of Appling, GA; a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives and friends.
