Georgia was born on February 25, 1949, in San Antonio, Texas to George and Melba (Brown) Saunders and passed away on November 23, 2025 in Enid, Oklahoma with her family by her side. She grew up in El Paso, Texas. She spent her youth in El Paso and attended school there, graduating from Coronado High School in 1967. Georgia continued her education at Texas Tech in Lubbock, graduating in 1971 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Special Education. She wanted to work with deaf children. In 1976, Georgia received a grant from New York University and pursued her master's degree in special education. Georgia worked for the Oklahoma State Board of Education for 30 years, managing all the special education programs in the eastern half of the state.

Georgia can best be described as a tenacious, hardworking, independent woman who was loyal to her friends and family. She had a wonderful sense of humor and was honest to a fault. She was an avid reader and also had an artistic ability. Georgia was a good Christian, and her caring and kindness were felt by all.

Georgia wore many hats, teacher, artist, friend, wife, sister, aunt, and grandmother. Her ability to persevere allowed her to overcome many obstacles, one of which was the use of alcohol. Georgia was approaching 39 years of sobriety. Her intelligence and problem-solving abilities allowed her to accomplish many goals.

She was preceded in death by her father, George, and mother, Mabel Saunders.

She is survived by her husband, Gary of the home; sister and husband, Dorothy and Ted Andresen; nieces, Laura Riley; nephew, Andrew Andresen; stepson and wife, Joey and Macy Whiteaker; grandson, Hunter Whiteaker.

Georgia was loved by many and will be missed by all. She truly was a good human!

Private family services will be held at a later date. Cremation arrangements by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home and Crematory.
