It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gerald (Jerry) Douglas Babb, who passed at home on August 23, 2025. Jerry was Jerry, living life unapologetically and to the fullest. His passions included fishing and hunting trips, and he took great pride in tending to his gardens, whether they were filled with roses or vegetables. An avid golfer, Jerry had a habit of kicking his ball out of the woods and pretending like it was never in the woods to begin with. Jerry loved nothing more than going for a ride in the truck with no particular plan in mind. Whether it led to a hot dog at the Yellow Jacket or a road trip to Florida, his rides were always a surprise. He enjoyed playing cards and could light up a room with his entertaining stories. His infectious laughter and unmistakable voice drew people in, while his unfiltered humor kept everyone on their toes, leaving us all amused and slightly embarrassed. Anyone who knew Jerry understood that a visit to his house meant being ready for a project. He had an uncanny ability to assign a project to you the moment you walked through the door and was always there to supervise and hand you a rusted screwdriver. A proud military veteran and mason, a beekeeper, a pilot, and so much more, Jerry left a mark on the lives of everyone he encountered, whether that be through his charm or inappropriate jokes. He created lasting memories that we will cherish forever. He is preceded in death by his loving parents, Waymon and Euince Babb of McDonough, Georgia. Jerry is survived by his devoted wife, Sharon Babb; his sister, Joan Carruth Gronley; his children, Todd (Cheryl) Babb, Tammy Babb, Steve (Tara) Robinson, and Lisa (Foy) Mainor; his grandchildren, Mitchell (Jessica) Babb, Cole Babb, Taylor Babb, Victoria (Blake) Wade, Justin (Kaleigh) Robinson, Jake (Alex) Robinson, Harrison (Darby) Mainor, Greyson (Presley) Mainor, Garrett Mainor, Jaclyn Troy, and Brian Troy; and his great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Ellie, and Cody Babb, Cooper Wade, Andi and Easton Robinson, and Bowen and Sutton Robinson. He is also survived by his beloved dog, Buddy. His family invites you to join us in celebrating his remarkable life. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 27, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Scot Ward's Green Meadow Chapel, interment will follow at Flippen United Methodist Church Cemetery. A reception will follow. The family will receive friends Wednesday, August 27, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Condolences may be submitted on-line at www.scotward.com.
