Gerald ("Jerry") Bauerschmidt

Gerald ("Jerry") Bauerschmidt, 77, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 28, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born May 1, 1948, to Quentin "Barny" and Dolores (Skibinski) Bauerschmidt, Jerry was a 1967 graduate of Start High School. Following graduation, he proudly served his country for two years in the U.S. Army. On June 12, 1971, he married the love of his life, Louise (DeSloover) Bauerschmidt. Together, they shared 54 wonderful years of marriage. Jerry spent his career as a Pipefitter with Local 636. Outside of work, he was a true outdoorsman. An avid fisherman, he would jump at any opportunity to get out on the water. He took great pride in his property, where he and Louise planted hundreds of trees across their nine acres. Jerry tapped his trees to make maple syrup annually-a tradition his family cherished. He enjoyed grilling for large family gatherings or working on the land.

A true servant leader, Jerry was always available to help family and friends with any problem at any time. He worked extensively on projects on his children's homes and was known for his generous spirit.

His favorite role, however, was that of "Papa." His grandchildren were the center of his world. He loved helping them with projects, including two of his grandsons with their Boy Scout Eagle projects.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Louise; and their children and grandchildren: his daughter, Elizabeth "Liz" Hagemann, and her husband, Bob Hagemann III, of Washington, D.C., and their daughters, Evalyn and Vivian; and his son, Paul Bauerschmidt, and his wife, Lauren, of Chicago, and their children, Mark, Elise, and his namesake, Evan Gerald Bauerschmidt. He is also survived by his brothers, Robert and Mike Bauerschmidt.

He is reunited in peace with his parents, and his brother, Kenny.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the 4th-floor ICU nurses and staff at Flower Hospital for the exceptional care provided to Jerry.
