Gerald L. Baughman, 56, of Brady Lake, Ohio, passed away suddenly on June 3, 2025 at UH Portage Medical Center in Ravenna—the same hospital where he was born on February 10, 1969 to parents Gerald R. Kilbourne and Frankie D. (Digman) Swaney. Jerry loved fishing, gathering with family and friends, shooting the…breeze?...with anyone who would listen, and pestering his sisters to no end (although we know he loved them dearly).
He is survived by nine siblings—brothers, Joe (Janet) and Mike (Diane) Swaney; sisters, Kim Kilbourne, Paula (Jay) Miller, Cyndi (Bill) Underwood, Annette (Pat) Errera, Genevieve Trusso, Stephanie Baughman Chapman, and Denise Baughman—and many more nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews than we could possibly list here.
Along with his parents and stepfather of many years, Ray Swaney Sr., Jerry was preceded in death by his brothers Mike Baughman, Ray Swaney Jr., Tracey Swaney, and Roger Kilbourne.
In accordance with Jerry’s wishes, he will be cremated. In lieu of formal services, an informal celebration of his life will be held at Underwood Hall in the Kent American Legion on Sunday, June 22, 2025 from 2:00 to 4:00PM. All who knew Jerry are welcome to attend, and we encourage you to stop by! Flowers are appreciated and may be brought to the celebration of life; however, those who wish to do so may also remember Jerry simply by toasting to him and drinking a shot in his honor. (If you knew Jerry, then you know which one he would prefer.) He will be deeply missed.
Cremation services in the care of Bissler and Sons Funeral Home and Crematory, 628 W. Main St. Kent, OH 44240.
