Gerald "Jerry" J. Bizjak Sr., 83, Wausau, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 26, 2025 at his home.
He was born June 17, 1941 in Eau Claire, WI, son of the late John and Esther (Mayenschein) Bizjak. On October 8, 1966, he married Kay Sanville at St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Sheboygan, WI. She survives.
Jerry proudly served his country as a veteran of the Army Reserves. He was employed as a Civil Engineer for Becher-Hoppe Engineers and Architects in Wausau for nearly 40 years and retired as co-owner.
Jerry was a longtime member of Grace United Church of Christ in Wausau and was church treasurer. He enjoyed representing the local middle school students in the Wausau area as the manager for the MathCounts Competition Series. He coached WAYSA soccer in its infancy.
Following retirement, Jerry worked on the family farm in Butler, WI, planting a huge garden and raising crops, making maple syrup and served as the Butler Town Chairman. He and Kay made many trips to Biloxi, Mississippi to help families rebuild after Hurricane Katrina. His favorite pastimes included hunting, fishing, genealogy, and going to casinos.
Survivors include, his wife of 58 years, Kay; three sons, Gerald Jr. (Carey) Bizjak, Eau Claire, Christopher (Kimberley) Bizjak, Wausau and Timothy (Ahna) Bizjak, Oregon, WI; ten cherished grandchildren, Raelin (Kyle) Neidermeier, Lauren, Lindsey, Anthara, Claire (fiancé Lucas Barnes), Madeleine, Lilia, Ava Katarina, Zachary and Mackenzie; and sister-in-law, Diane Voigt, North Carolina.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 31, 2025 at Grace United Church of Christ, 531 S 3rd Avenue, Wausau. Visitation will be on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. Burial will be in the Town of Butler Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Jerry's memory that will be donated to Grace UCC and other causes he supported.
