Gerald M. “Jerry” Bode, age 70, of Potosi, passed away on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at Orchard Manor Nursing Home. He was born May 3, 1954, in Dubuque, IA, the son of Robert and Doris (Ambort) Bode. Jerry graduated from Potosi High School in 1972. After graduation, he began his employment at John Deere Dubuque Works. Jerry also owned and operated Jerry Bode Repair. On August 12, 1977, he was united in marriage to Diane Jacobson at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Tennyson. Two children were born to this union, Brandi and Scott. Jerry enjoyed fishing, hunting, and playing Cribbage. He was a man of remarkable skill and endless creativity, known for his ability to build, fix, and create just about anything. Whether it was a dustpan, a custom tool, or a number of dream projects, he approached every task with an enthusiasm that left a lasting impression on those around him. His hands, steady and precise, turned ordinary materials into works of craftsmanship. He never met a challenge he couldn't tackle, and his projects became a testament to his ingenuity. His final project was the restoration of a 1967 John Deere 570 Motor Grader. Jerry dearly loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his loving wife of 47 years, Diane; their children: Brandi (Eric) Richter and Scott Bode; three grandchildren: Cullen Kruser, Dane Richter, and Emmalin Bode; his siblings: Ted (Diane) Bode, Norma (Dick) Kammerud, Mark Bode, and Vickie (Tim) Timmerman; other relatives and many friends.
In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by a sister, Rosie (Bob) Long.
