Patricia Lee Sinclair was the youngest of five children of Robert and Isabel Ackerman Sinclair. She was born February 3, 1934, in Jamestown ND, and died March 1, 2026, in Fargo ND.
Pat's early years were spent in Jamestown, working as an aide in the Jamestown Hospital Nursery, and later as a nursing assistant at Mercy Hospital in Valley City ND. With children Judy, Vickie, Lori, and Jim in tow, Pat married Glenn Bode on June 26, 1965, in Valley City; their family grew to include two more children, Lisa and Todd. They began their married life in Valley City, moving to
Roseau, MN, in 1968,
Fosston, MN, in 1996, and
Moorhead, MN, in 2013.
In addition to raising her own children, Pat maintained a licensed home-based childcare and foster care in Roseau, caring for dozens of children through the years. She loved to follow the kids' lives for decades after they spent time in her care. Our Mom was a firm disciplinarian, an incredible "scratch" cook, and expressed her creativity with intricate crocheting and sewing. She crocheted tablecloths, christening gowns, and afghans. She sewed school clothes, prom and bridesmaid dresses, a bridal gown and even a leisure suit for Glenn back in the day. She has several grand champion Roseau County Fair ribbons to show for her talents. She was a wiz with the household budget, except when it came to antique collecting.
Pat survived a difficult but successful fight with breast cancer in 2016 only to be diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease and vascular dementia. While her memories faded, she maintained a strong spirit. She was valued and loved until her last day. Pat is survived by her husband, Glenn; children, Judy Stinnett of Phoenix AZ, Vickie Jackson of Green Valley AZ, Lori (Kean) Beito of Roseau, James (Mery) Berg of Roseau, Lisa Bode of Moorhead, and Todd (Jamie) Bode of Richfield; six grandchildren, Stephanie (Jason) Beito-Ziemer, Brian Stinnett, Jamie Stinnett, Garrett (Bethany) Berg, Gavinn (Charlene) Berg, and Jillian (Corey Ward) Vatnsdal; nine great- grandchildren, Jaedyn, Evan, Emery, Hannah, Ayla, Chesney, Kohlter, Emily, and James. She is also survived by Glenn's siblings, David Bode, Hazel (Gary) Hareland, Arvid (Darlyne) Bode, and Ruthie Bode; and many nieces and nephews. Pat's cat, Dolly Blue, and grand-dog, Tuesday, are missing her, too.
She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Memrey Beyer, Marlys Vindhurst, Robert Sinclair, and Donna Osborne; along with Glenn's parents, Walter and Leeta Bode; and his sister, Deloris Selland.
