Gerald Thomas Cavan

Gerald (Jerry) Thomas Cavan, 89, of Greenville, husband of Betty Hood Cavan, died Sunday, January 7, 2024.
Born in Detroit, MI, he was the son of the late James and Ella Marie Cavan.
Jerry was a graduate of Michigan State University and a proud veteran of the US Army. After his service, Jerry joined General Motors where he was transferred to Raleigh, NC, as a district manager for Buick. While in Raleigh, Jerry met his wife, Betty, with whom he shared 62 years of marriage. Jerry moved his family to Greenville SC in 1971 to take a position with Equipment Leasing Corporation and later served as Manager of the Leasing Division of South Carolina National Bank.
Jerry was a member of Christ Church Episcopal for 50 years where he also worked in the business office during his retirement. He served on the Greenville City Beautification Committee during the development of Falls Park and also was a member of the board of directors of Canterbury Counseling.
He is survived by daughter, Lanier Morrison (Neal); son, Jay Cavan (Jessica); daughter, Ashley Runge (Bill); grandchildren, Elli Morrison McAdams (Wes), Gray Morrison, Ben Cavan, Lillie Cavan, Schaefer Runge, Bralie Runge, and Thomas Runge; and great grandchild, Tillie McAdams.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday January 16, 2024, at Christ Church Episcopal. The family will receive friends following the service at the Christ Church All Saints Center. A private inurnment at the columbarium will take place at a later date.
