Ashley, Jay, & Lanier-
You know how special your mom was and is to me, but you may not know that I was also very fond of your dad. Whenever I saw him over the 3+ decades I knew him, he always had a ready smile, a gentle but very quick wit, and endless patience that summer your mom and I reworked the Honor Code (and maybe sparred a bit!). I loved seeing him at the kids' football games when we moved home. He had an easy way about him, and I enjoyed knowing him. I'm sure you will miss him, and I'm so sorry for your loss. Hugs to all of you, and give an extra few to your mom from all the Shaws (Howells, Lowrances, etc.).
Much love,
Katie Shaw Howell
