Gerald David Cheak, age 77, husband of Connie Gayle (Pulliam) Cheak, passed away on Tuesday, May 20, 2025 at his home in Harrodsburg. Born October 1, 1947 in Harrodsburg, he was the son of the late William Hall and Vonie Mae (Yocum) Cheak. He was a 1965 graduate of Burgin High School, served in the US Army during the Vietnam War, was a self-employed tile contractor for many years and a lifetime member of the VFW and American Legion. He was also a member of the Baptist Faith.
Other than his wife survivors include his son Troy David (Michelle) Cheak and his daughter Marsha (Mark) Lyons both of Harrodsburg; also surviving include four additional sons Jerry Wayne (LaShannon) Stratton of Harrodsburg, Thomas DeWayne Stratton of Lexington, Anthony Scott (Brandy) Stratton of Berea and Brandon Scott (Danielle) Stratton of Lancaster; two brothers Robert (Annette) Cheak and Richard Cheak both of Burgin; seventeen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Gerald was preceded in death by three brothers Tom, Melvin and William Joel Cheak; a sister Martha Hall Watts and a grandson Jonah Andrew Hall Cheak.
Graveside services with full military rites will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at Springhill Cemetery Pavilion by Brother James Gutenson and Brother Bob Cheak. Burial will be in Springhill Cemetery in Harrodsburg.
There will be no visitation.
Expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.simsfuneralservices.com.
Full US Army Military Rites will be conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 680, 1494 Leestown Road, Lexington along with the American Legion.
