Gerald Edward Cline, 81, of Old Fort, TN passed away on Friday, January 19, 2024. Gerald was born October 3, 1942, in Conasauga, TN. He was a graduate of Murray County High School. Gerald was a decorated veteran of the United States Army where he served more than 17 years, including two tours of duty in Vietnam. Not comfortable being the center of attention, Gerald could generally be found capturing memories for his family and friends from behind the lens of his handheld video camera. He also took great pleasure in the simple companionship of his beloved dogs and watching birds from his front porch.
Gerald is survived by his wife, Fonda Miles Cline, children Kevin Cline (Mary), Kerry Cline, LaDawn Miles McClary, John H. Miles (Lisa), and Eddie Miles. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and a large extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Spencer Cline and Edna Talley, son Dane Miles, daughter in law Joni Miles and son in law Jim McClary.
His family will receive friends on Sunday, January 28th from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at Benton Station Baptist Church, Benton, TN, with a celebration of life at 6:00 PM. Reverend Joel Jenkins and Pastor Ryan Potts officiating. Graveside service will be Monday, January 29th at 11:00 AM at Dill Cemetery in Old Fort, TN. Pallbearers will be Robert Crumbley, Brent England, CJ Tinnon, Brandon Tinnon, Christian Passmore, Steven Hawk, Miles Hawk, Josh Miles, Landon Hicks, Jimmy Wilke, Kenneth Stanley, and Josh Stroud.
In remembrance of Gerald Cline's life, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to your local animal shelter or to Cleveland Tennessee State Veteran's Home.
