Gerald Cook Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home - Adrian on Jan. 9, 2026.
Gerald Ronald Cook, age 86, of Cement City, MI, passed away, January 7, 2026. He was born February 7, 1939, in Detroit, MI, the son of Edmund & Mary (Zygo) Cook. Gerald served his country in the US Army. He worked for Ford Motor Company for 37 years, retiring from the Milan Plastics Plant as a skilled trades hydraulic repairman. Beyond his professional life, Jerry was a man of many passions. He had a keen eye for antiques, often finding beauty and history in items others might overlook. His love for traveling took him to new places, but equally at home, at the casino where he enjoyed the excitement of the floor. Jerry was the son of a large, close-knit family. He was preceded in death by his parents; two siblings Rita and Conrad; and former wife, Joy Saaranen (Fisher). He is survived and will be dearly missed by his sisters Eleanor and Margaret; three sons, Derrick (Janet) Cook, Brian Cook and Steven Cook; three beloved granddaughters, Jenna Sara and Olivia who brought him immense joy in his later years; and also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews and dear friends. Funeral Mass will be held 11:00 AM Monday, January 12, 2026, at St. Rita Catholic Church, 10516 Hayes Road, Clark Lake, MI, with Fr. Bosco Padamattummal presiding. Rite of Committal will follow in St. Joseph Shrine Cemetery with Military Honors performed by the Tecumseh American Legion & VFW Honor Guard. Viewing & Visitation will also be on Monday from 10:00 AM until the time of service at St. Rita Catholic Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Purse Funeral Home, Adrian, MI. www.PurseFuneralHome.com
