Alan B. Cook, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, left this world on March 7, 2026, in Dayton, Ohio, at the age of 79. Born on July 10, 1946, in Columbus, Ohio, Alan lived a life full of purpose, devotion, and passion that touched all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A proud attendee of The Ohio State University and the University of Maryland, Alan made significant contributions throughout his professional journey. He dedicated a substantial portion of his career to serving in the FBI, followed by remarkable roles as Vice President of Purchasing for McDonald's Corporation and at Kay Chemical. His time with McDonald's was particularly dear to him, where he had the opportunity to create policies and travel the world, sharing his expertise in training and opening new stores. Alan took immense pride in his accomplishments during those years, leaving a lasting impact on the organization.
Alan’s character was defined by warmth and friendliness. He possessed a quiet strength, yet it was said he never met a stranger. He loved his family wholeheartedly, often expressing pride in their achievements and offering unwavering support and advice. Alan celebrated 50 beautiful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Leslie Cook, whose memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew them together.
He is survived by his loving daughter, Emily Cook; his sons, Brian (Amy) Cook and Andrew (Eileen Blackwell) Cook; and his grandchildren: Deyton (Cayla) Cook, Kendall (Erik DeLuca) Cook, Katelyn Cook, and Samantha Blackwell. They will forever treasure his legacy of kindness and laughter. Additionally, Alan was a proud great-grandfather to Wout, who brought joy to his later years. His brothers, Tim (Paulette) Cook and Larry (Elaine) Cook, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, also hold fond memories of his generous spirit.
Outside of work, Alan embraced a range of interests that brought him joy. He was a lifelong Ohio State fan, relishing in the thrill of games and community. Music filled his home as he enjoyed the melodic tunes of the Kingston Trio and the Weavers, often sharing this passion with family and friends. He was also a HAM Radio enthusiast, connecting with others around the globe, and he found great pleasure in playing Euchre, an activity that brought friends and family together for many evenings of laughter and companionship.
Alan’s legacy is one of love, commitment, and unwavering support for his family. He has been reunited with his beloved wife, Leslie Cook; his parents, Harry and Madeline Cook; and his brother, Gregory (Carol) Cook, who preceded him in death. Together, they will watch over the family he so dearly treasured.
Alan Cook leaves behind a rich tapestry of memories, stories, and unwavering love that will live on in the lives he touched. His warmth, generosity, and friendly spirit will be deeply missed, but his legacy will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Family will privately celebrate Alan's life at a later date.
