DAVIS, GERALD "JERRY" L. Jr., 62, of Grafton, WV, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, July 18, 2025. The proud Mountaineer and even more proud Dad and Pop-Pop was born and raised in Deptford, N.J. to Frances Pinardo-Davis and the late Gerald "Jerry" Davis, Sr.
Jerry was an avid fan of all things Wild and Wonderful including his three children and many grandchildren. Jerry graduated from WVU College of Business and Economics with a degree in Business Administration in 1986. After graduating Jerry moved back to New Jersey to start his family and work with his Dad in the family business of moving and raising houses. Jerry Sr. was proud to work along with his son Jerry Jr. especially as Jerry Jr. became a foreman and ran his own crew.
Prior to moving to West Virginia you could find Jerry and his young kids in Wildwood at their favorite spots like Morey's Piers, Gateway 26 or Sam's Pizza. After relocating to West Virginia Jerry could be found at Milan Puskar stadium cheering on his alma mater, the WVU Mountaineers.
Jerry was a generous man always ready to lend a helping hand and provide guidance whether requested or not. Jerry enjoyed spending time with family and delivering sweet treats from Boscov's fudge to Krispy Kreme donuts to whoever he was visiting. He especially loved spending time with his kids and grandkids at Disney World and the beach where he would spend time digging and building sand castles. Jerry also enjoyed traveling, attending Mountaineer football games and going to Las Vegas with friends and brother-in-law Bill Moore.
Jerry worked jobs where many coworkers became life-long friends. The past 17 years Jerry's work took him all over and he was known by his buddies as Jersey. His sense of humor and generosity left a lasting mark on everyone he met. He was a mentor and friend to many and was always willing to help without expecting anything in return.
Jerry's favorite pastime was spending time with his grandchildren and children, in that order. Jerry is survived by his beloved children, sons Gerald L. Davis III (Kirstein) and Zach Davis (Danielle) and daughter Shelly Streets (Nathan). Jerry also leaves behind those who gave him his favorite name, Pop-Pop: Pierson and Wrenlei Davis, Jason, Bree and Wade Davis, and Blair, Addie and Briggs Streets.
Jerry will be deeply missed by his mother, Frances Davis, and siblings, Jeff and Kim Davis, as well as many cousins and nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday July 26, 2025 at 6:00 pm at Harmer Funeral Home, 300 Pike Street, Shinnston, WV. Viewings will be held at the funeral home on Friday, July 25, 2025 5:00-8:00pm and Saturday 11:00-6:00 p.m.
The family kindly request that attendees refrain from wearing traditional black attire and opt wearing colors that represent Jerry's vibrant life and spirit.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that you leave a memory on Jerry's obituary page.
