Gerald Anthony Deas

Gerald Anthony Deas ABBEVILLE -- Gerald Anthony Deas, 64, was born to Gertrude Hamilton Deas and James Deas on July 26, 1951 in New York City. He was the second of five sons (Ernie, Gerald, Leslie, Mark, and Martin). Gerald attended Public School 71 and Junior High School 101 in Bronx, NY. He graduated from New York's Urban League's Harlem Preparatory School. To know Gerald was to know he loved music. He played the Trombone and the Conga Drums. He also sang and played the keyboard and piano. In New York, Gerald worked for Associated Foods Company as manager of security and as an officer for NYC Bridge and Tunnel Authority. Afterward, Gerald, Stephanie and the boys began their fresh start in Abbeville, SC, in 1991. Gerald worked at the Milliken Sage Plant. He leaves to cherish his wife, Stephanie; his sons, Jordon (Lunara), Kelly and Christopher (Teresa O'Bannon); his grandchildren, Jaden, Aron and Stella; his mother, Gertrude; his brothers, Ernie (Mary), Mark (Charlene), and Martin; his sister-in-law, Diane; his nieces and nephews; his in-laws and all of his other relatives; and of course his many, many friends in New York and in Abbeville will mourn his passing. Services are Monday, May 23, 2016 at 1 p.m. at The Abbeville Church of Christ, 405 Grey Rock Estates, Abbeville, SC. Burial will follow at Harbison Cemetery, also in Abbeville ,SC.
