Gerald T. DeVito

NORTH PORT, Fla. - Gerald T. DeVito, 90, of North Port, passed away iWednesday, Dec. 18, 2024, at home.

Born April 11, 1934, in Clyde, N.Y., he was the son of Gerald and Elizabeth DeVito. He married his high school sweetheart, Lenora DeSanto, who predeceased him Nov. 7, 2020.

Gerald attended Clyde Central School, where he was three-sport athlete playing football, baseball and basketball. After graduating high school he attended St. Bonaventure University.

After graduating from St. Bonaventure Univeristy he worked for the Social Security Administration in Corning, N.Y., Geneva, N.Y., Erie, Pa. and DuBois, Pa., before returning to Allegany, N.Y., where he became district manager after time as an assistant manager for the Olean, N.Y. office.

He was a long-time member of St. Bonaventure Parish and also a long-time member of the K of C in Allegany.

Gerald loved going to hunting camp and playing cards and having beers with his buddies, but his number one love was golf. He was a long-time member of Birch Run Country Club. He would play all the time. Gerald's biggest accomplishment was his 12 holes-in-one (14 total).

Gerald leaves behind one daughter, Michelle DeVito of North Port; and three sons, Gerald (Shelley) DeVito of Ontario, N.Y., Joseph (Mary) DeVito of Fairport, N.Y. and Christopher (Kelly Kasperski) DeVito of Allegany. He also leaves behind five granddaughters; and one great-granddaughter.
