Obituary published on Legacy.com by Weeks' Enumclaw Funeral Home on Oct. 23, 2025.
It is with an abundance of love in which we announce the passing of Gerald Duane Edens. Jerry passed on Tuesday October 21st, 2025 at the age of 74 at his home in
Enumclaw, Washington. Jerry had a courageous battle with cancer in which he fought valiantly to be with his loving wife Jill and family for as long as he possibly could.
Jerry lived a full life growing up with 4 brothers and 2 sisters. He joined the military and the US Army and served 2 proud tours in Vietnam, during the Vietnam War, and was primarily tasked with specifically helicopter maintenance as his prime focus. It was in the Spokane area where he came to find his wife Jill, and after they married they initially found their 1st home in Savannah, Georgia at Fort Stewart. After their move back to Spokane, he went to school on the GI Bill and found their way to Colorado to start his career. After 4 years in Colorado they would eventually move to the Marysville area where they primarily raised their children. He worked at what is now Providence Hospital in Everett initially before moving his career up north to the Skagit Valley Hospital as a cardiovascular technician and a manager of the lab in Mount Vernon.
Fishing, golf and travelling – especially to Hawaii – were amongst his favorite things to do and definitely spending time with his family. In his retired life, he enjoyed taking it easy - time in his yard and caring for others. Ultimately though the focus became more about his own immediate family and the number of grandkids to follow. This legacy is where he will be remembered most – yet, he was a loving son, brother, husband, Dad and Papa to so many (who he adored the most) at the time of his passing.
He is proceeded by his father Harold and mother Carolyn, brothers Darrell, Danny and Paul. His sisters Caralee and Caryn have been amazing supporters especially these past several months. He is survived by his wonderful wife Jill, children Randy and his wife Kim, Amy and her husband Devin. And then of course the many grandchildren he was so endearing to and personally fond of Carter, Ella and Kasey on his son's side and on his daughter's side Brad, Madeline, Preston, Sione, Tristan and Teyah.
Memorial Services or Committal Service with Honors are at Tahoma National Cemetery 18600 Southeast 240th Street in Kent, Washington at 10:00AM. We are honored as a family and tremendously proud of the service he had to his country.
We are tremendously grateful for all 'Dad' and 'Papa' did for us and what he shared in his 74 years. He left the world a better place than he found it and ultimately his concern was more about others than just himself. We thank the MANY doctors, family members, neighbors, co-workers and many others who helped us and ultimately him along his journey he called 'just a life'. With your support, laughter, storytelling and love – he ultimately was at peace with his time with all of us! Many blessings to all of you today and in the days ahead!
