Gerald Entin Obituary

Gerald "Jerry" A. Entin, otherwise known as "Poppy," age 79 of Spring Lake, passed away on Sunday, July 4, 2021. He was born April 9, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois. His parents were Bernard and Ruth Entin, with brothers Dennis, Hershey and Kenny.

Jerry married the love of his life, Carmen L. Entin (affectionately called "Dear"), on March 21, 1985. He is also survived by his son, William Gipson (Kimberly Senior, daughter-in-law); granddaughter, Sierra Gipson "Tinkerbelle"; and grandson, Ukiah Gipson "Ukie Boy."

Jerry spent his early days in California, before permanently residing in Spring Lake, Michigan, with his family. He graduated from Beverly Hills High School and attended Santa Monica Community College. Thereafter, he served in the United States Air Force from 1963-69. After being discharged from the Air Force, his passion for racing turned into his career as a professional race car driver, racing CanAm and partnering with others in F5000. He was also known for his love of water sports (anything from waterskiing to tubing), snowmobiling, and his extreme generosity and love to help anyone with anything.

Jerry was the best husband, father and grandfather anyone could have asked for, and he will be dearly missed by many. Any individual who was graced to have met him knew instantly that he had a heart of gold. We will miss you forever, Poppy, and you will always hold a special place in all of our hearts.

The celebration of life for Jerry will be at 11 a.m. Friday, July 9, 2021, at The Spring Lake Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 213 E. Savidge St., Spring Lake, MI 49417. Share memories with the family at their online guest book at www.sytsemafh.com.

The Hartley Family from deep down in the Sonoran desert wants to express our deepest sympathy to to Jerry's family. I grew up with Jerry and will always remember his love for fast cars. He was so into his 1960 Chevy big block 4 speed. We spent many hours talking cars.
Jerry we will forever miss you . We shared the same birthday. Our hopes and prayers are with The entire Entin Family.

Carmen I’m so sorry for your loss.
Jerry’s Love for you and your family was remarkable.
I remember visiting you in Michigan on the lake and Jerry taking us on a speed boat ride, it was memorable.

I missed seeing you when you moved from Palm Springs.
You and Jerry were a wonderful couple who loved each other deeply.

My thoughts and prayers for you and your family.

Carmen & family, we are deeply saddened by the passing of Jerry. It was always so fun to have him pop in for a visit, when I was visiting my sister Holly, brother-in-law Scott, & nephew Alex next door. He really did love helping others, & I have fond memories of him setting up a butterfly sailboat on a moment’s notice so my other brother-in-law Ian could try sailing during a visit. Jerry really was a very special man and one-of-a-kind! He will be greatly missed! Our deepest sympathies to you and your family. From Holly’s sister Liz O’Brien & husband Stan
