Gerald Alexander Hammond

Gerald Alexander Hammond "Cheeky", 64, of Windsor, CT, beloved father, brother and friend, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 7, 2026, at Hartford Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Gerald was born in St. Catherine, Jamaica on August 23, 1961, to the late Gwendolyn Williamson and Wilfred Hammond, he was the youngest of eight children.
Gerald was a self-employed contractor whose hands could fix just about anything. Specializing in tiling, his skills extended to building decks, patios, sheds, cabinets, and more. He never hesitated to share his skills, often improving the homes of friends and family simply out of love and generosity.
Gerald had a deep love for cooking Jamaican cuisine and found joy in spending hours preparing meals. He always made more than enough, believing food was meant to be shared. He would often say that love was the most important ingredient in any dish, and everyone who tasted his cooking knew it was true.
Music was Gerald's true passion and constant companion. He loved all genres, from country to pop, but reggae held a special place in his heart with Beres Hammond being his favorite artist. In his favorite season, the Summer, he enjoyed sitting outside and jamming to music.
Gerald will be remembered by his sisters, Stephanie Creary of Windsor, CT, Fay Williams and Theresa Douglas of Jamaica. His brothers; Astley Williams of Canada, Leon Williams, Wilfred Williams, Cyril Hammond, and Archie Hammond of Jamaica.
Gerald will be deeply missed by his five beautiful children, Fernando Hammond of New Haven, CT, Savannah Hammond of Willimantic, CT, Sinae Hammond of East Hartford, CT, Paeyton Hammond and Johan 'Alex' Hammond of Hartford, CT, his niece, Coretta (Creary) Warren and husband Martin Warren of Bloomfield, CT, grandniece, Mikaela Warren and grandnephew, Joshua Warren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Gerald will be remembered for his love for God, his generous spirit, his loving heart, and the many ways he touched the lives of those around him. May you sleep in peace
Services for Gerald will take place on Saturday 1/31/2026 at Rehoboth Church Of God, 1170 Blue Hills Ave, Bloomfield, CT at 10:00 AM. A Service will follow also at Rehoboth Church of God at 11:00 AM.
