Gerald Lee “Jerry” Haneghan, 82, of Galesburg, passed away peacefully at home with his family at his side on Monday, November 13, 2023.

Jerry was born on October 19, 1941. He was the son of Joseph S. and Hazel (Miller) Haneghan. He married Glenda C. Downard on February 16, 1963 in Knoxville. Together they celebrated 60 years of marriage. Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Glenda at home; children, Colleen (Todd) Jacobs of Dixon, Gerald Haneghan, Jr. of Galesburg,Tracey (Mike) Bice of Galesburg, John Haneghan of Galesburg, Brian (Angie) Haneghan of East Peoria and Michael Haneghan of Galesburg; siblings, Carl Haneghan and Jane Wessels, both of Galesburg; thirteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, Leo Haneghan, Dorothy Haneghan, Joseph Haneghan, Jr., Alice Estrada, Robert Haneghan, Leon Haneghan, Steve Haneghan, Gloria Milan, William Haneghan and Jim Haneghan.

Jerry was a graduate of Corpus Christi High School. He worked as a route salesman for Aramark, retiring in June of 2000. He enjoyed walking and playing cards. Most importantly, he loved to spend time with his family.

Funeral service will be 3 PM on Thursday, November16, 2023 at Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes and Crematory, Knoxville. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service. A celebration of life will follow services from 4-6 PM on Thursday, November 16, 2023 at the Hurd-Hendricks Fellowship Hall. Reverend Dave Mustain will officiate. Memorials may be given to the family. On-line condolences and/or expressions of sympathy may be sent through www.hurd-hendricksfuneralhome.com
