Born in Mecklenburg County, NC on October 18, 1948, he was a son of the late Howard Charles Hillman, Sr. and Gladys Ruth Smith Hillman. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son, William L. Hillman and wife Betty Hillman.
He was a retired general contractor.
Surviving are his wife, Joan Marie Tollison Hillman; sons, Charles Douglas "Doug" Hillman, Woodland, NC, Joshua Groce, U.S. Army (Samantha), Fayetteville, NC, Brandon Isaac Groce (fiancée, Mackley), U.S. Army, Greensboro, NC; daughter, Jennifer Nicole Abernathy (Adam), Maiden, NC; brothers, Chuck Hillman, Danville, NC, Mike Hillman, Cornelius, NC, and Darrell Hillman, Wilmington, NC; sisters, Karen Gladden, Concord, NC and Roxanne Huffman, Hildebran, NC; five grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be conducted from the graveside in Sunset Memory Gardens, Mint Hill, NC in September, 2022 at a date and time to be announced.
