Gerald “Jerry” Glen Colvin, Jr., 80 of Benton, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 10, 2025, after a short illness. Jerry was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.

An avid learner and proud Benton High School graduate of the Class of 1962, Jerry pursued his passion for agriculture by earning a degree in Animal Sciences from Northwestern State College. He furthered his studies at Louisiana State University, earning a master’s in animal science. His education shaped his career and deepened his love for the land and nature.

Jerry worked in various roles throughout his career, but for more than 35 years, he found a home at KBH Farm Equipment.

At home, Jerry had a special talent for tending to his yard, taking pride in manicuring it to perfection. He enjoyed gardening and farming, which brought his family together. Jerry also loved hunting, which allowed him to connect with nature and spend time outdoors. Above all, he cherished the moments he shared with his family.

Jerry will be remembered for his hard work, love of manicuring his yard, and his deep love of family.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Opal Colvin. He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Frances Colvin; children, Debbie Vallery and husband, Layne, Kim Colvin and partner, Leighann; stepdaughters, Donna Hostnick and Sheila Reynolds; seven grandchildren, Haley Vallery, Gavin Vallery, Gage Vallery, Chase Vallery, Connor Hostnick, Kailin Mcauley, and Madison Colvin; great-granddaughter, Amelia Vallery; brother, Murph Colvin and wife, Danette; nephew, Murphy Colvin, MD; niece, Rachel McCalman along with many extended family members and dear friends.

The family suggests memorials may be made to Jerry’s favorite charities, Shriner’s Hospital, www.shrinerschildrens.org, and St. Jude’s, www.stjude.org
