David Colvin, 61, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on June 1, 2024. David was born on August 29, 1962 in Gastonia, NC to David Coleman Colvin, Sr. and Fannie Sue Falls Colvin.

David was a fifth generation native of Gastonia and was proud of his heritage.  He graduated from Ashbrook High School where he was an athlete and especially excelled in wrestling, having 47 pins in a two year period.  He attended Appalachian State University on a wrestling scholarship.  He also wrestled at North Carolina State University where he transferred into the School of Design.  David was a member of the Sigma Nu fraternity and was a big Wolfpack fan!  He had a very creative mind and was a "people person".  A true salesman at heart, David spent his career in sales and marketing.  Much like his father, he never met a stranger.  Anyone who knew David knew a kind and jovial friend who is both adventurous in heart and sensitive in spirit.  David had a contagious laugh, great taste in music and was a friend to all.  David loved to fish both in the mountains as well as at the beach.  His heart was filled with love for his family, always enjoying family gatherings with the "games and competition" that frequently ensued!

David is survived by his fiancée, Lynn Rauschenberger Yates; daughters, Madeline Beam and husband, Chance, and Susan Colvin; mother, Fannie Sue Falls Colvin; sister, Donna Lockett and husband, Roy; aunts Martha Wilson and husband, Trent, and Mary Madeline Wilson; niece, Elizabeth Anne Russell and husband, Drew, and nephew, Charles Winters II and wife, Jenna; four great nieces and a great nephew.

He was preceded in death by his father, David Coleman Colvin, Sr. and his sister, Anne Colvin Winters.

David's memorial service will be held on Friday, June 7th, at 2 pm at First United Methodist Church in Gastonia, the church where he was baptized and grew up.  A family visitation will be held immediately following the service at the church.  The burial will be private.

Memorials may be sent to First United Methodist Church in Gastonia, NC and/or DonateLife.net
