**A luncheon service will be held, Saturday, May 6, 2023 at 12 Noon, at the Bellaire Commission on Aging, 308 E. Cayuga St., Bellaire, MI 49615.
Gerald "Joe" Witowski Sr, 86, of Bellaire, passed away on Tuesday, February 14, 2023 at his home surrounded by loved ones. He was born on September 12, 1936, in Detroit, MI, the son of William and Stella (Markiewicz) Witowski.
Joe moved his family to Bellaire in 1971 to establish a better quality of life. Due to his love of manufacturing, he started Antrim Machine Products, AMP, in 1974 in Mancelona. AMP is still in operation today and has employed many local folks over the years.
Joe enjoyed spending time with family and friends, traveling, fishing, and a shot and a beer at the end of the day.
On June 18, 2001, Joe married Deborah (Whapham) Witowski, who survives. Also surviving are his four children, Gerald J. Witowski Jr. of Bellaire, Brian (Carla) Witowski of Maricopa, AZ, Tammy Witowski of Mancelona, and Daryl (Cheryl) Witowski of Bellaire; 7 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife and mother of his children, Valerie Witowski; and two brothers, William Witowski and Ronald Witowski.
A celebration of Joe’s life is being planned for the first weekend in May. Details will be announced as they are made available.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Arbor Day Foundation, the Wounded Warrior Project, or your local animal shelter.
Arrangements are in the care of the Bellaire Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Please sign his online guestbook at www.mortensenfuneralhomes.com
