Gerald Allen Kircher passed away on March 10, 2025, after a 15-month battle with cancer.
Gerald was the fifth of six children born to Lawrence and Elnora (Tabatt) Kircher on February 28, 1964, in Long Prairie, MN. He grew up in Long Prairie and much of his life was spent in the areas near Long Prairie. Gerald was a very hard worker and while living in this community, he worked as a laborer or line worker for plants including Jenny O, Larson Boats, Prairie Packing, and Morey's Seafood International. In the early 2000's, Gerald moved to Fairmount, MN, where he worked in large hog facilities. He was also an avid trapper and spent many hours on the trapline making extra money for his families. In November of 2016, Gerald moved to rural Fertile, MN, to live near his brother, Gary. While living near Fertile he worked at his favorite job. He worked for Bergeson Nursery where he met lifelong friends and people that were like family to him. He worked at Bergeson's Nursery until his cancer made it no longer possible.
Gerald was a true outdoorsman. He loved nature, the woods, hunting, trapping, and fishing. He spent many special moments with his dad outdoors doing the things that they loved. Gerald also had a great love for his dogs. It was not uncommon for him to bake a cake just to share with his furry friends.
Gerald had three families that loved him the Kircher family, the Krogstad family, and the Bergeson Nursery Family. May he always be remembered for the kind things he did, his vivid and animated story telling, making his own way, his teasing, and his work ethic.
Gerald is survived by his children: Nicole (Kircher) Elias, Tristen Kircher, Sarah Macho, Josh Kircher, Ashley Kircher, Tanner Kircher, and step-son Tyler Fletcher; 13 grandchildren: Zachary, Alexander, Hannah, Brianna, Alana, Jayden, Emma, Haley, Logan, Bentley, Zander, Aribella, and Darian; his siblings: Dennis (Jean) Kircher, Gary (Wendy) Kircher, Jane (Dave) Nelson, and Bradley Kircher; brother-in-law, Gerald Berndt; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Elnora Kircher; sister, Janice (Kircher) Berndt; grandparents; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
A special thank you to Mayo Clinic-St. Mary's Hospital, Joe Lueken Cancer Center in Bemidji, Sanford Hospital in Fargo, Essentia Hospital in Fosston, Gary EMS, Fertile EMS, the ER and clinic staff at the Mahnomen Health Center, Benedictine Care Facility in Ada, Jamie Fuglseth, and Hospice of the Red River Valley for all the tremendous care and love Gerald received in the last fifteen months!
In Gerald's own Words, "Catch ya later!"
A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 pm on Friday, April 11, 2025, with a Time of Gathering one hour prior to the service at the Anderson Family Funeral Home, Mahnomen, MN.
