Gerald Koehl

Gerald Koehl, age 88, of Farmington passed away on September 27, 2025. He was born on January 11th, 1937, in Horton Township, MN to Edwin and Doris Koehl of Hancock, MN.

He attended District 20 country school until 1948, when at age 11, he moved with his family from Horton Township to Eureka, IL, where he attended school and worked at his parent's business. He returned with them to the Hancock area in 1952 where he finished his education at the Ag School in Morris, MN in 1956, and continued to farm with his parents.

Gerald and Veloyce Magnuson were united in marriage on Aug.16, 1957 at the Chapel in the Veterans Hospital in Minneapolis, MN. Gerald and Veloyce were blessed with three children, Daniel, Kristin and Tearle. Gerald was drafted into the military in February 1959. He completed basic and combat engineer training at Fort Leonard Wood, MO and was assigned to Fort Sill, OK where Veloyce joined him in June of 1959. They made their home in OK until he completed his active duty in February 1961 when they returned to the Morris area, they moved to Inver Grove Heights, MN in 1964, where, along with various jobs he became a member of the Inver Grove Heights Fire Dept and the Rescue Squad. He was promoted to Lieutenant and Chief Engineer while on the Fire Dept. He spent the majority of his working life in farming and the trucking industry. He was employed by a trucking company in Rosemount, MN from 1987 until his retirement in 2017.

Gerald is survived by Veloyce, His wife of 68 years, his Son's; Daniel Koehl, Tearle (Jennifer), his Daughter Kristin Knowles. His brother Edward (Lois), his sister Gloria Koehl, sister-in-law Ida Lu Koehl. And his 11 Grandchildren and many Great-Grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Doris Koehl, an infant sister Marilyn, Infant brother Myron as well as his older brother Chris Koehl, and Son in law Christopher Knowles.

A visitation will take place from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM at White Funeral Home, 901 3rd St., Farmington, MN 55024. The funeral service will be held the following day at 10:00 AM on Friday, October 3, 2025 at Hope Ministries, 19600 Camrose Way, Farmington, MN 55024 with a visitation starting at 9:00 AM. Interment at Corinthian Cemetery in Farmington, MN.
