The world has lost a great one. Gerald Locklin was an amazing stepdad, a truly great father and grandfather, and the best husband and partner my mother could have ever asked for. Of course, everyone who ever met Gerald already knows what an incredible person he was.
The only reason more people don't know is because of how humble, quiet and selfless he was. Gerald literally had the least amount of ego of any human being I've ever met. He taught us all through his actions the meaning of integrity and honor. He regularly reminded us by his example that just because you have an opinion on something, that doesn't mean you need to share it with others. That's a lesson I never quite learned and still struggle with daily, but Gerald was never one to correct you or even let you know that he disagreed with you. No ego, just humility. Love and accept all. Treat others with respect, and above all else be kind. Oh, and do whatever Linda says.
He worshipped my mother, and for 42 years would literally do anything to make her happy. I'm pretty sure he mostly succeeded at it, and I'm 100% certain no one could have done better. For that, I'm eternally grateful.
Will Rogers said, "If there's no dogs in Heaven, then I want to go where they went." Same, but send me to where Gerald went. Godspeed, Gerald. Thank you for the life that you made for my mom, Michael, Julie, Ben and you and me.

Linda and I had the two best husbands that possibly every walked the face of the earth. Gerald was one of them. What a kind and gentle man Gerald was. He will truly be missed. Gerald also was married to an extraordinary woman in her own right. And he was spoiled daily with Linda´s unmatchable culinary talents. Linda, may your precious memories help to mend your broken heart.
