It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gerald Joseph MacDonald, a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Jerry was born on April 16th, 1952 in Massena, New York and passed away in his home on September 15th, 2024 in Windsor, Colorado. He lived a life marked by laughter, love and a service to others.
Jerry was a beacon of strength. In his youth, Jerry served four years in the Army and four years in the Air Force. He served overseas in Korea and Vietnam and dedicated most of his twenties to defend and honor our country.
After getting married, he earned his respiratory therapy license and spent over 30 years as a dedicated respiratory therapist. As a respiratory therapist, he led the respiratory department in two hospitals at Porter and St Lukes in Denver, Colorado, where he touched countless lives with his expertise and caring for others. Even after retirement, he went back to work as a respiratory therapist in Naples, Florida. Jerry was a man who loved his career and dedicated his life to his work.
As a husband, Jerry was always supportive and loving. He is survived by his devoted wife, Phyllis MacDonald, with whom he shared 40 years of marriage. Together, they raised three children and built a loving home filled with laughter, adventure, and cherished memories.
Jerry was also a proud father and survived by his children, Corey, Todd and Cassie who were the pride of his life. He instilled in them the values of independence, kindness and hard work.
After Corey and Todd got married to their lovely wives, Brittany and Samantha, Jerry became a loving grandfather to four amazing children. Jerry treasured every moment with his grandchildren Hannah, Madison, Nathan and Danielle. Together they created memories that they will hold in their hearts forever.
Outside of his professional and familial commitments, Gerald had a passion for the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, golfing and hiking. Jerry loved nothing more than a quiet day sitting by the water with a fishing pole and a cigar. He was a man that truly honored his peace and quiet and enjoyed it often.
A viewing for Jerry will take place on Friday, September 20th between 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM at Marks Funeral & Cremation in Windsor, Colorado. At 2:00 PM, Jerry’s family and friends will gather for a celebration of life at his son's home in Windsor.
Gerald Joseph MacDonald will be deeply missed. If you had the opportunity to meet him, you know that his smile and ability to make you laugh was undeniable. He was an amazing man, and his laughter and love will be remembered forever through his family and friends.
