Jerry "Murph" A Loving Father, Devoted Husband, and Friend to All
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gerald P. Murphy "Murph" on December 10, 2025, in his home. Born to Rosemary Theresa Allen and Gerald P. Murphy Sr. in Massepequa Park on July 29, 1961, Jerry was a beloved father, devoted husband, and cherished friend. Jerry was known for his stubborn spirit, sensitive heart, and unwavering love, always taking immense pride in his role as a father. He often joked that everyone wanted to be one of "Jerry's kids," a testament to the warmth and support he offered to all.
Despite facing a challenging upbringing and the early loss of his brothers, Jerry channeled his experiences into becoming an exceptional and devoted father. A man of Catholic faith, he was always grateful to God for everything he had. He found joy in life's simple pleasures, such as watching sunsets, enjoying a cold beer, and fixing his Camaros with his sons. He loved taking things apart to fix them. Jerry cherished his family above all else, loved his dogs Hunter, Jack, and Hazel, and embraced life on his own terms, proud of his Irish heritage, he was a true friend to many, always ready to lend a helping hand.
In his younger years, Jerry worked as a commercial fisherman and auto mechanic at Jiffy Lube. He was a sensitive man who always maintained pure intentions and unwavering integrity. Gerald is preceded in death by his parents, Gerald P. and Rosemary Theresa Allen, as well as his siblings, Tommy, Steven, Chris, Michael, and Linda Murphy. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 37 years, Lisa, and their children: sons Joseph Murphy and Justin Murphy, along with his wife Kalyn; daughters Theresa Rose Murphy and Alissa Ann Murphy, together with her husband Stephen Cronkite. Gerald is also survived by his sister Susan Murphy, niece Tara Murphy and nephews Thomas Murphy, Steven, and Matthew Murphy, alongside numerous friends who will remember his kindness and generosity. Jerry's memory will be forever cherished by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched. Jerry loved the mountains and always said he wanted to come back as an eagle. Well dad, wherever you are, I know you are happy your flying and free and I'm grateful for knowing you, until we meet again.
