Gerald E. Padgett

HAMPSTEAD - Gerald E. Padgett, 87, of Hampstead, passed away July 8, 2024. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, July 10, 2024 at Providence Parish Church with Rev. Preston Wells officiating. Burial will follow at the Russell Padgett Cemetery located at 126 Padgett Road, Maple Hill.
Mr Padgett was born on January 13, 1937 to Martha and Edgar Padgett of Sandy Run, NC. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Minnie Sanders, brother, Carl Padgett, and stepson, Steve Raynor.
Gerald retired after 37 years of service with Onslow County School Bus Garage. He was a 60 year member of the Stump Sound Masonic Lodge #733 and a member of Providence Baptist Church. After retirement, he enjoyed many years of hunting, fishing, and being on the water.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Pat Wells Raynor Padgett, his sons, Wayne Padgett and wife, Pam of Hampstead, Bobby Padgett and wife, Sheila of Wilmington and a stepson, Wayne Raynor and wife, Francy of Hampstead. Grandson, Alex Padgett and wife, Marley of Kenansville. Step Grandchildren, Matthew Raynor(Christina) of Indiana, Ryan Raynor(Laura) of Charlotte, Hannah Raynor of Charlotte, and Dylan Raynor of Hampstead. Six Great Grandchildren, brother Durlin Padgett of Sandy Run, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family will receive friends Wednesday afternoon, prior to the service, from 1:00 until 2:00 at the church in the fellowship hall.
Pall Bearers will be Gerald's nephews, Chris Davis, Eric Padgett, Jacob Sanders, Lenny Sanders, Nicholas Sanders, and Thomas Padgett. Honorary seating for members of Stump Sound Masonic Lodge #733.
