Gary Von Pennington

Gary Von Pennington, born on October 26, 1960, passed away on February 4, 2026, at the age of 65. He was a man of creativity and artistic talent, known for his work as an architect. His passion for design was matched only by his love for his family and the band AC/DC.

Gary was a devoted father to his daughter, Rachel Pennington, who was truly the center of his world. His attentiveness and loving nature made him not only a wonderful father but also a cherished grandfather to his grandson, Michael Greene Jr.

Preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Otis Pennington and Carrie Lee Pennington - Oliver, his stepfather James Oliver, and his siblings Teddy Pennington, Paul Pennington, Edwin Pennington, Wanda "Jane" Dean, and Saundra Lee Pennington, Gary leaves behind a legacy of love and creativity. He is survived by his beloved daughter Rachel Pennington of Jacksonville NC; his cherished grandson Michael Greene Jr; his brothers Terry Pennington of Wilmington, NC, and Don Pennington of Daytona Beach, FL; and nieces Bianca Lane and Saundra Pennington.

Gary was not only an artist in his professional life but also a tinkerer at heart, always finding joy in creating and building. His kindness and attentiveness touched the lives of all who knew him, and his memory will be cherished by his family and friends.

Service for Gary will be Tuesday, February 17, 2026 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Johnson Funeral Home in Jacksonville NC . His memory will be cherished by all who knew him, and his legacy of love and creativity will continue to inspire those he leaves behind.
