Barbara Ann Pierce

Barbara Ann Pierce, passed away on February 17, 2026, in New Bern, North Carolina. Born on June 28, 1947, in Bowling Green, Kentucky, Barbara's life was marked by compassion, dedication to her profession, and a deep love for her family and interests.

Barbara graduated from Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Her education laid the foundation for a long and meaningful career as a registered nurse. Throughout her years of service, Barbara worked in various fields of nursing. She found particular joy in caring for children and made a lasting impact on countless young lives. In the later years of her career, she traveled to nursing homes across North Carolina, providing individualized care and comfort to those in need before retiring.

Family was central to Barbara's life. She is survived by her son Randy Baxter; daughters Laura Chaisson and Kimberly Bailey; grandchildren Christopher Boulet, Kerry Boulet, Charlotte Baxter, Haley Parkhurst, Tyler Heintzleman, and Sammy Lynam; and great-grandchildren Daxton Mendonis, Nikolis Mendonis, Eleni Mendonis, Kinsley Heintzleman and Damon Heintzleman. Each member of her family held a special place in her heart.

Barbara was predeceased by her beloved husband Rupert Earl Pierce; sons Donald Baxter Jr. and Russell Baxter; mother Rachel Glenadine Wilson; father Frances Wilson; and sisters Alice Lucille Wilson Jaggers, Cathey Wilson Duvall, Mary Frances "Frankie" Wilson Coursey, and Joyce Ellen Wilson Morgan.

Beyond her professional achievements and devotion to family, Barbara embraced life with enthusiasm for her many hobbies. She was an avid reader with an impressive collection of James Patterson novels. Sports brought her great enjoyment-she rarely missed an NFL game when the Patriots played and followed the NBA with equal fervor. The excitement of ice skating competitions and the Olympics captivated her attention whenever they were broadcast. A true fan of classic cinema, Barbara prided herself on having seen every Western movie ever made.

A Graveside Service will be held on February 20, 2026 @ 1:00 PM at Lewis Family Cemetery Flamingo Ln/Swan Point Rd Sneads Ferry, North Carolina.
