Gerald "Jerry" Pearson

Gerald 'Jerry' F. Pearson of Mora, MN passed away peacefully on September 23, 2023 at Olmsted Medical Center, with his children by his side.
He was born on March 8, 1936 in Minneapolis, MN to Swen and Helen (Maberry) Pearson. He lived in Minneapolis and Cross Lake, MN. After graduating from Pequot Lakes High School, he lived in the south before joining the Army. He served 3 years in Germany, where he met fellow musicians and formed a band; The Sons of the South. Upon returning home to the states, the band performed in many places across the country for several years.
He met LaVonne Ukura in Crosby MN and they married on December 3, 1960. Jerry enrolled at North Dakota State University and graduated with a degree in pharmacy. Before moving to Mora, they resided in Duluth for a short time. He worked at Rexall Drug and then helped establish the pharmacy at Kanabec County Hospital. He was the director of pharmacy at the hospital until he retired.
Jerry was a very active member of Calvary Lutheran Church, serving as an usher, Council President, and singing in the Men's Quartet. He was also very active with the Boy Scouts of America in Mora. He was involved in the band parents organization and the American Heart Association. He was devoted to raising his family, and said he loved seeing the world through the eyes of his children.
He had many interests including music, gardening, camping, fishing, hunting, wine-making, and traveling. He played guitar by ear, sang, and often said that music changed the course of his life. Jerry had a joke for every occasion and was known for his kind, thoughtful nature. One of his greatest joys was spending time with family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Jerry was preceded in death by wife LaVonne, parents, infant brother Kenneth, and sister Joyce (Bill) Kunze.
He is survived by daughter Lynn, son Scott, grandchildren Danielle (Tyler) Edwards and Derek Pearson, great granddaughter Harper Edwards, a niece and nephews.
A private family service will be held.
A Private Inurnment will be in the Oakwood Cemetery in Mora.
