Gerald Peeters Obituary Gerald Oscar 'Jerry' Peeters, age 90, of Necedah, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2024, at the Tomah Veterans Hospital in Tomah, WI. Born on June 1, 1934, in Appleton, Wisconsin, he was the son of Carl and Irene (Becher) Peeters. Jerry was a humble man of deep faith, incredible handiness, and unwavering kindness, cherished by all who knew him.
Jerry grew up in Appleton and attended St. Mary's Catholic School in Menasha, graduating in 1953. After high school, he honorably served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, stationed in Germany from 1954 to 1957. On January 5, 1957, Jerry was united in marriage to Mary G. Laemmrich at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Menasha. The couple's devotion to each other and their family was a testament to their enduring love and commitment.
Following his military service, Jerry embarked on a diverse career path. He started as a laborer in the welding field before transitioning to work at a lumber yard. His work ethic and dedication to any task at hand were evident throughout his varied employments. Jerry's strong faith, family values, and love for country were the pillars of his life, guiding him in all his endeavors.
Jerry and Mary moved to Arkdale, Wisconsin, in 1974 and later settled in Necedah, where they have resided ever since. Together, they raised a loving family, and Jerry took immense pride in his children and the beautiful life he built with Mary. He is survived by his wife, Mary of Necedah, WI; his children, Charles R. (Barbara) of Wisconsin Rapids, WI, Gregory J. (Jody) of Farmington, UT, Terese D. (Daniel) Dutscheck of Necedah, WI, Catherine A. (Francis) Mootz of Necedah, WI, Michael W. (Lisa) of Wisconsin Rapids, WI, Thomas M. (Shannell) of St. Mary's, KS, and Stephen R. of Necedah. Jerry's legacy continues through his 28 grandchildren and 48 great-grandchildren, who will remember him for his storytelling, deep conversations, and the wisdom he imparted.
In addition to his family, Jerry had a profound love for his garden and a passion for living holistically. He found peace and joy in the hours spent nurturing his plants and flowers, and learning wholesome healing properties. His hands were rarely still, as he was also an avid woodworker and a voracious reader. His handcrafted rosaries were a testament to his artistic skill and deep spirituality, serving as cherished keepsakes for those who received them. He leaves behind a family who strongly believes Christ is the reason for the Season, traditionally competing with one another with their Christmas nativity displays, none of them holding a candle to his collection and artistic ideas.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Irene Peeters, and his brother, Bruce Peeters. His life was a beautiful reflection of his humility and values, and he will be remembered for the love and care he showed to everyone around him.
A man of many talents, Jerry's faith-filled life, handy nature, and kind heart have left an indelible mark on his family and community. His memory will be carried forward not only through his family but also through the countless lives he touched with his generous spirit.
As we say farewell to Gerald Oscar Peeters, we celebrate a life well-liveda life full of faith, love, service, and integrity. Jerry's story is one of a well-traveled journey, and his legacy will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know him. Please pray for his soul as he approaches his heavenly home. The memories he created will forever hold a place in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
