Gerald David Potter, age 89, of Moulton, passed away Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at his home.
Gerald was born on November 29, 1933 in Kirksville, Missouri, the son of Doss Clinton Potter and Elsie Mabel (Wright) Potter. He graduated from Kirksville High School with the Class of 1952. On December 28, 1954 Gerald was united in marriage to Wanda Darlene Pettis, and to this union, four children were born, Pamela, Wesley, Janet and Doss.
Gerald worked as a Telegraph Operator for the Railroad for several years. In his free time, he enjoyed woodworking, fishing, gardening, hunting, coin & antique collecting, as well as playing cards with his friends and family. He cherished moments spent with everyone he loved.
Left to honor Gerald's memory are his wife of 68 years, Wanda Potter; his children, Pamela Burton, Wesley Potter (Mary Lawson), Janet (Charlie) Davis, and Doss (Belinda) Potter; his grandchildren, Melia Piper, Jerilyn (Richard) Lasley, Samantha (Travis) Campbell, Natalie (Kalen) Martsching, and Chloe Potter; eight great-grandchildren who were the apple of his eye; as well as numerous extended family members.
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, Doss and Elsie Potter; his brother, Freddie Potter; and his sister, Norma Forquer.
Funeral services will be held at 11AM, Tuesday, April 4, 2023 at Thomas Funeral Home in Moulton with Rev. Brian Hargrave officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset View Cemetery in Moulton. Visitation will take place one hour prior to service, with the family greeting friends from 10-11AM. Memorials in honor of Gerald may be written to either Moulton First Responders or Moulton Historical Society, and may be mailed to Thomas Funeral Home, ATTN: Potter family, 501 North 18th Street, Centerville, Iowa 52544.
