Gerald Mark Roy, passed away at his residence in Hessmer, Louisiana on December 15, 2025 at the age of 89.
Gerald was a proud retiree of the US Airforce and Army. He proudly served in the Vietnam War. Gerald dedicated over 12 years of his life to serving in the United States Air Force where he made a significant impact as a First Sergeant. His military career was marked by commendable achievements, earning him numerous medals including the Bronze Star Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and Vietnam Service Medal. Gerald was also honored with various ribbons for his exemplary service, skills, and commitment to the Air Force, showcasing his dedication and professionalism throughout his career. Gerald proudly served in the U.S. Army for 15 years, achieving the rank of Sergeant and later Staff Sergeant in the HQ Special Troops. He was honored with awards for his expertise with the M-14 rifle and was recognized for his good conduct throughout his military career. He loved to talk about his time in the military to anyone who would listen. Gerald had too many hobbies to count, but include carving wooden duck decoys, collector of everything, raising livestock, traveling, and reading.
Memorial Visitation to be held on December, 27th 2025, beginning at 8:00AM to 10:45AM, at Escude Funeral Home in Mansura Louisiana.
A private burial immediately following the service to be at the St. Alphonse Catholic Church Mausoleum for family only.
Those that are left to cherish his memory are is wife, Juanita Roy; daughters, Stepanie Marie Roy Mathews and Celeste Marie Roy Armond; grandsons, Dalton Canezaro and Mason Canezaro; great-granddaughters, Kennedy G. Canezaro and Alyiah Smith; great-grandsons, Barrett C. Canezaro and Colton L. Canezaro; and sister, Verna Marie Roy.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Mona Ann Roy; first wife, Virginia Rita Lambert Redfield; and parents, Dallas Roy and Francis Gauthier Roy.
The family would like to thank all the caregivers for taking care of Gerald with the utmost compassion and sincerity at all times.
