TRIMONT: A Funeral Service for Gerald C. "Bud" Russenberger, 92, of Trimont, Minnesota will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 20, 2024 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Trimont with Military Honors at the church by the Foster-Bernhardt American Legion Post #373. Burial will in Cedar Lutheran Cemetery in rural Trimont.
Bud was called to his eternal rest on Thursday evening, January 11, 2024 at Clarkfield Care Center in Clarkfield, Minnesota. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church on Saturday.
Gerald Charles Russenberger was born on February 28, 1931 in Kimball Township, Jackson County, Minnesota to Robert and Myrtle "Gohr" Russenberger. Bud went to country school in District #128 and 118. He was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Kimball Township. Bud helped his dad on the farm until he enlisted in the United States Air Force for four years. After basic training he went to Fairchild AFB in Spokane, Washington where he met his wife, Shirley. Bud and Shirley were united in marriage at Fairchild Chapel and made their home in Spokane. Shirley and Bud had a son, Gerald Jr. and Bud later was called to England in 1954. After three months Shirley and Gerry came to join him. They all later returned to Minnesota where Bud went farming until retiring to Trimont in 1992. He was a member of Foster-Bernhardt American Legion Post #373 of Trimont and served on its honor guard, Jackson V.F.W., and Disabled American Veterans. Bud loved taking trips out west and up to Leech Lake fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Russenberger of Becker, Minnesota; son Gerald Russenberger Jr. of Becker, Minnesota; two grandchildren, Melissa Ann Russenberger and Brian R. Russenberger; sister, Marlyce Schwarz of Mankato, Minnesota; sister-in-law, Alice Russenberger of Royal, Iowa; nieces and nephews and other relatives.
Bud was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Myrtle Russenberger; brother-in-law, Kenneth Schwarz, sister, LaVonne (Otto) Dunker; brothers, Dennis (Lana) Russenberger and John Russenberger and other relatives.
