Gerald Rutherford, age 69 of Gatesville, passed away on September 26, 2025. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Gerald Wayne Rutherford, affectionately known as “Jerry,” was born on March 9, 1956, in Port Lavaca, Texas. He was the son of Bernie Dale Rutherford and Omega Dell Hall Rutherford.
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Joshua Frey.
He is survived by his wife Melody; brothers, Bill Rutherford and Terry Rutherford and wife, Carrie; sisters, Babara Aguirre and husband, Henry and Brenda Evans and husband, Clint; children, April Corpman and husband, Harvey, and Kristie Khairi; and nine grandchildren.
Jerry grew up in Port Lavaca until his parents moved to Gatesville in 1971. Jerry loved his job working in construction and building anything made from wood in his spare time. He retired from McCarty Corporation in 2012. After retirement, he spent much of his free time fishing and watching the Dallas Cowboys. He also loved playing music with his wife and family. Most of all, Jerry loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He never missed an opportunity to share Jesus everywhere he went. He loved doing things with his grandchildren, whether it was showing them his craft, watching television shows and Cowboys games or taking them out fishing.
Jerry was an all-around family man and caring husband. He will forever be loved in our hearts and memories.
