Roy Edwin Holden, age 62 of Gatesville, passed away on October 9, 2025, surrounded by family. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, October 14, at Restland Cemetery with the Rev. Wray Nunn officiating. The family will receive visitors from 6:00- 8:00 pm on Monday, October 13 at Scott’s Funeral Home.
Roy was born on November 28, 1962, in Gatesville, Texas to the late Roy “Buck” and Henrietta Key Holden. Roy was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. He loved his children and enjoyed spoiling his grandchildren even more.
Roy was a heavy equipment operator for many years. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He loved fishing on the banks of the Leon River and Cowhouse Creek. Roy looked forward to the annual family reunion, holidays, and football season, “Go Cowboys.”
He is survived by his wife of thirty-four years, Barbara Mason; daughter, Amanda Holden; son, Roy Holden, Jr. and wife, Josee; son, Charles Holden; sister, Loraine Watson and husband, Gene; brother, David Holden, all of Gatesville; grandchildren, TJ, Wyatt, Ryan, Grayson, and Keegan; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Scott’s Funeral Home to assist with Roy’s services, Amedisys Hospice, or the Gatesville Care Center.
