Gerald Sebald Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Frederick Funeral Home on Apr. 16, 2024.
Gerald L. "Zeke" Sebald, a beloved salesman at General Tire and Rubber Company, whose journey began in Cincinnati, OH on June 9, 1931, is preparing to embark on his final journey as he peacefully departed from this world on April 14, 2024. Throughout his life, Gerald found joy in many activities such as playing cards, shuffleboard, and golf, showcasing his competitive spirit from his days as a baseball player. In addition to his successful career, Gerald proudly served in the Army during the Korean War as a dedicated medic, bravely fulfilling his duties to his country. One of his fondest memories includes the remarkable experience of delivering a baby in Germany during his service. After retiring, Gerald and his cherished spouse Clara settled in Marco Island for almost 30 in the winter months, enjoying the serene beauty of the island and creating lasting memories together. His love for travel and dedication to serving others truly defined his existence. Zeke was a beloved husband of 71 years to Clara V. "Tootie" (nee Ostendorf) Sebald. Devoted father of Barbara (Mark Ward) Westendorf, Gerald E. (Donna) Sebald, Scott (Sandy) Sebald and Keith Sebald. Loving grandfather of Bethany (Bryan) Taylor, Christine (Dave) Larsen, William (Megan) Westendorf, Gerald (Heidi) Sebald, Rebecca (Rick) Graf, Stacey (Casey) Creech, Scott (Kelsey Howard) Sebald and Keith Sebald. Great grandfather of McKenzie, Zach, Scarlett, Branson, Bill, Remy, Reagan, Julia, Rosie, Steven-James, Maria, Callie, late Jamie and soon to be great granddaughter. Dear brother of the late Alan (Cathe) Sebald. Also survived by nieces and nephews. As family and friends gather to honor his legacy, a visitation will be held at Frederick Funeral Home, 2553 Banning Rd., on Friday (April 19) from 9:30 am- 10:30 am followed by Mass of Christian Burial at St. James Church (White Oak) at 11:00 am. In remembrance of his service, Gerald's proud military history as an Army veteran will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew him. His unwavering dedication to his country and compassion for others leaves a lasting impact that will be cherished for generations to come. As we look back on the memories shared and the love given, Gerald Louis Sebald will forever hold a special place in our hearts. May he find eternal peace in the loving embrace of the Divine. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Special condolences may be expressed at www.frederickfh.com
