Gerald (Jerry) Irwin Sherman of Port Royal, South Carolina, and formerly of Westfield, New Jersey, Westport, and Guilford, Connecticut, died peacefully on December 9, 2025. He was born on June 12, 1941, in Paterson, New Jersey, to William and Lillian (Kriss) Sherman.

Jerry is survived by his devoted wife, Maureen (Jaffe), his partner in life for 61 years. He was the proud father of two sons and their wives, Peter and Debbie, and Lowell Adam and Elissa, and the loving grandfather of Amanda, Jolie, Alexander, and Marley.

Jerry's early career placed him in the heart of New York's advertising world during its golden era. A true "Mad Man," he spent nearly thirty years at Scali, McCabe, Sloves on Madison Avenue, where he helped create the memorable and enduring campaigns for Volvo. Later, he brought his energy to his second career as a successful real estate agent with William Raives in Connecticut.

Jerry was an avid Yankees fan, a passionate photographer, and a devoted baker, experimenting with new breads and his brick-oven pizzas. He loved travel, not just as a tourist, but as someone who wanted to embrace the people and culture around him. One of the great chapters of his life was the two years he and Maureen spent living in Cortona, Italy, where he was warmly welcomed by the community as one of their own.

Those who knew Jerry will remember his easy conversational warmth, his passionate spirit, and his deep love for his family. He approached life with a sense of enthusiasm, whether sitting at a café in Italy, fishing on his boat, traveling, or simply being with the people he loved.

Jerry leaves behind a lifetime of stories and love that will be carried forward by his family and friends. His presence will be missed, but his memory will remain with us always.

A graveside service will be held Friday, December 12, 2025, at 11:30 a.m. at Cedar Park Cemetery, 735 Forest Ave, Paramus, NJ.

Remembrances may be made to the American Heart Association or to the charity of one's choice.
