Gerald N. Vasko, age 86, of Toledo, Ohio passed away on Sunday, March 16, 2025 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio-Perrysburg Center. He was born on August 26, 1938 in Toledo, Ohio to John and Anna (Bode) Vasko. Gerald was a 1956 graduate of Macomber High School and worked many years as a foreman for DeVilbiss Company and retired from Calphalon. He ran his own painting business, Vasko Painting and Paper Hanging Company for many years.
Jerry loved baseball and was an avid New York Yankees fan. He played in high school making the All-City Team two of those years. Jerry also enjoyed bowling, and golfing and managed to make a hole in one at Collins Park Golf Course. He coached baseball for many teams for the Northwood Recreation League. In his spare time, he was a prolific reader and studied Egyptology. Jerry was a devote catholic and member of St. Stephen Catholic Church. He was also a life-long member of V.F.W. #4906.
Jerry is survived by his children, Jerry (Kathy) Vasko, Jr., Kathy (Steve) Darling-Weaver, Heidi (Dave) Banjoff; Tony (Shena) Vasko and Aaron Vasko; 13 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Anna; sister, Marianne Holdren; son, John Vasko; and daughter, Paula Vasko.
Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon on Sunday, March 23, 2025 from 2 – 8:00 p.m. where Auxiliary services will be done at 7:00 p.m. by members of the VFW Post #4906 followed by a rosary service. The funeral Mass will take place on Monday at Epiphany of the Lord-St Stephen Catholic Church where family will greet guests from 10-11:00 a.m. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
