Gerald Walden Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ramsey Funeral Home & Crematorium on Jan. 5, 2026.
Gerald Max Walden, age 91, of Georgetown, Texas, passed from this life into the next Sunday, January 4, 2026. Per his wishes, cremation has taken place and a private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Gerald was born on January 17, 1934, in Oak Grove, Arkansas, the son of Louis Walden and Clarice (Stephenson) Walden. He graduated from Oak Grove High School class of 1951. On March 4, 1952, he married Bonnie Stroud in Paragould, Arkansas. They were married for 71 years until her death in 2023.

After high school, Gerald moved to Peoria, Illinois, where he worked for Caterpillar Tractor Company. He began his work for Caterpillar in the shop but went through their drafting program where he attained the position of mechanical engineer. After retirement, he spent several years as a driver for We Care of Morton, providing transportation for developmentally delayed adults. Gerald was actively involved in local churches both in Morton, Illinois, and Sun City, Texas, serving in many capacities and faithfully supporting his community.

After retirement, he and Bonnie moved to Sun City in Georgetown, Texas, to be closer to family and eventually moving to Grand Living of Georgetown. We would like to thank the management and staff for their loving care of Gerald. He will be missed by the residents and staff.

Surviving are his son Jerry (Darlene) Walden; daughter Tempa (Greg) Herman; sister Fayetta Wikowsky; grandchildren Blake (Shana) Herman, Megan Herman, Randy (Molly) Woodworth, Jim Woodworth; great-grandchildren James Herman, Connor Herman, Dakota Woodworth, Seeka Woodworth, Claire Woodworth, Max Woodworth; and many other family and friends.

He was predeceased by his wife Bonnie; parents Louis and Clarice; brothers Cloyce, Billy, and James Walden; daughter-in-law Melissa Walden; grandchildren Sherah, Shelah, and Jonathan Walden; and many others.

Memorial contributions in his honor may be made to Lakeland Christian Academy-Walden Endowment Fund, 4720 Waugh Road, Owosso, MI 48867 or to a special charity of your choice.
