Jerry Weddle, 84, went home to be with his Lord and Saviour on April 21, 2025. He is survived by his loving wife, Linda; children Trudi (Craig) Losacco, Darla Monet (Jong Davis), Matt (Cheryl) Ridpath, and Faith (David) Murphy; grandchildren Allison, Caleb, Melanie, Landon, and Colton; and siblings James Weddle, Judith Sadler, LA Vonn Smith, Patricia Sherman, and Mary Katerine Somoni. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sanford Ogg Weddle and Margeriet Irene Bierne Weddle; oldest daughter, Lisa; granddaughter, Aniston Bella-Rose Ridpath; and siblings Lois Beulette, La Raine Ryder, Donald Weddle, and Leeland Weddle.
Jerry was born on May 22, 1940, in Sioux City, Iowa. As an adult, he moved to California and was employed at Kraft Foods. Following that, he moved to Loveland, Colorado where for a while he owned the former historic Sunny Jim's Candies on Highway 34 between Loveland and Estes Park. He then worked for a number of years at Kodak in Windsor, Colorado before retiring in 2003.
In 1982, while they were both in the prime of their lives, he met the love of his life, Linda, in the singles class at the church they were attending at the time, and they married in 1985. They continued to live in Loveland for a few years before building their "dream home" on some acreage in Wellington, Colorado.
For many years Jerry and Linda attended Foothills Baptist Church in Loveland and were very involved in the Seedline Ministry there. It was during this time that Jerry started to struggle with assurance of his salvation. Under the preaching of evangelist Al Lacy, Jerry was able to get this settled. Afterwards, Jerry and Linda and Al Lacy and his wife, JoAnn, became very close, lifelong friends. As time went on, it was difficult for Jerry and Linda to continue driving from Wellington to church in Loveland, and they started attending Calvary Baptist Temple in
Fort Collins, Colorado.
Jerry loved ice cream, soda, chocolate, and baseball. He loved watching old westerns with his sons-in-law. He loved his tractor and looking after his goats and just enjoyed being outdoors around their home. But more than all of that, Jerry adored his grandchildren and they adored him. He loved being "Grandpa" and "Papa" and spent as much time with them as he possibly could. He and Linda were able to help homeschool Landon and Colton until they were in middle and high school. Second only to the Lord, Jerry's family was the most important thing in his life.
Jerry will be terribly missed by his wife and family and others who knew and loved him, but are thankful and rejoicing that he is now whole and healthy at home with the Lord, and look forward to the day when we are all reunited in Heaven.
Jerry's home-going service will be held on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at 9:30 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Temple, 2420 Laporte Avenue in Fort Collins, followed by a brief graveside service at Highland Cemetery, 9192 NE Frontage Road in Wellington, Colorado, and then lunch back at Calvary Baptist Temple.
