Obituary of Gerald C. Weidemann

May 17, 1947 - January 12, 2026

Gerald "Jerry" Charles Weidemann, age 78, of Lincoln Park, MI, passed away January 12th, 2026. Jerry was born in Detroit, MI, May 17, 1947.

He was preceded in death by his father Marlin, mother Barbara, step-father Edward and brother Craig. Jerry is survived by his wife of 54 years Michelle, son Jeff, daughter in-law Julie and sister Sue.

He was a long-time employee of Wayne-Westland Community Schools retiring as Executive Director of District Operations and was widely respected for his leadership, integrity and commitment to students, staff, and the community. His career reflected a strong sense of responsibility, professionalism and service. Jerry also served in the Michigan Air National Guard obtaining the rank of Technical Sergeant.

In his personal life, Jerry was a devoted husband and father and was most happy surrounded by family and friends. He enjoyed outdoor pursuits, including fishing (which often morphed into a well-deserved nap), hunting and golfing. Those who knew Jerry would attest he was funny, witty, quick with a joke or humorous comment and an accomplished prankster.

Jerry will be dearly missed by all who had the opportunity to know him, but especially by his family who adored and loved him. He remained positive and true to his nature during a lengthy illness and continued to provide countless moments of levity that eased his family's concerns.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Downriver Fishes & Loaves Community Food Bank.
