Gerald Edward Wells, Sr., affectionately known as "Spider," journeyed into eternal rest on September 26, 2025. Born on November 6, 1954, in Lansing, Michigan, he was the son of Joseph L. and Colleen G. (Johnson) Wells. Gerald was a proud member of the Grand Ledge High School Class of 1972, where his cheerful spirit and passion for life first began to blossom. A skilled Pipe Fitter at General Motors within the automotive manufacturing industry, Spider was known for his dedication and work ethic. Beyond his professional accomplishments, he was a man of many interests, delighting in the games of golf and the soothing melodies of his guitar. His artistic side shone through his love of lapidary, where he intricately shaped stones into beautiful creations. Gerald loved the outdoors, from mushroom hunting, rock hounding, kayaking, to mowing the lawn, you could almost always find him outside. Being skilled with many talents, he was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone who had a project. Family and friends remember Gerald not only for his talents but also for his deep compassion, especially for dogs. His beloved dog, White Toez, was a cherished companion that brought joy to his life. Gerald leaves behind a loving family, including his son, Jay (Jessica) Wells; his daughter, Gwen Wells; his son, Dustin (Heather) Wells; his mother, Colleen Wells; his sister, Marilyn (Duane) Bishop; his sister, Diane Caffee; his sister, Cathy (John) Cannell; and his brother, Mike Wells; along with his grandchildren, Justin, Jordan, Jenna (Jose), Adalynn, and Easton; great-grandchildren, Naomi, Mylah, Monica, Kali, Jose, and Juno; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph, and brother, Steve. A memorial service celebrating Gerald's life will be held in the coming days, where family and friends will gather to commemorate the special memories they shared. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Capital Area Humane Society, 7095 W. Grand River Avenue, Lansing, Michigan 48906 (https://bit.ly/4lTktE9). As we say goodbye to Gerald Edward Wells, Sr., we remember his laughter, his love for life, and the gentle spirit who touched the hearts of so many. May he rest in peace, forever cherished in our memories. Arrangements by the Holihan-Atkin-Barclay Funeral Home, Grand Ledge. Share your memories and condolences online at holihanatkin.com
