Gerald Whalen Obituary
Jerry was born on January 10, 1935, in Belvidere, IL, to the late James (Art) and Mildred Whalen. He attended and graduated from Belvidere High School then went on to St. Ambrose College. Following his education, Jerry proudly served his country in the United States Navy as a radioman. After his military service, he had a career in the insurance industry.
A longtime resident of Lakeland, Jerry had made Florida his home for the past 40 years. He was known for his kindness, humor, integrity and devotion to family and friends. He was also an avid Chicago Cubs fan, Go Cubbies!
He is survived by his sister, Ruthanne (Gene) Stonewall of Lakeland, FL, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Jim Whalen.
Jerry's family would like to thank the that compassionate staff at Savannah Court and Advent Hospice for their care and support.
Private cremation and burial will be done at Lakeland Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens.
