Patsy Whalen Obituary
Visitation will be held Monday, October 20, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Stringer Family Funeral Home in Hazlehurst, and again on Tuesday, October 21, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Pearl Valley Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Pearl Valley Baptist Church, with interment at Lowe Cemetery.
Patsy was born on June 25, 1949, to Earl Guess Sr. and Louise Grisham. She was a lifelong resident of Pearl Valley and a devoted member of Pearl Valley Baptist Church. She co-founded and co-owned Southern Electric, building the business from the ground up through hard work and dedication.
She loved to read, to travel-especially on cruises-and to spend time "junkin'" with her best friend Theresa Meese. Above all, Patsy cherished time with her family. She was known for her selfless spirit, generous heart, and the love she shared with everyone who knew her. Patsy also had a special place in her heart for her beloved dog, Annie.
She is survived by: Wilma Guess of Georgetown; children: Missie Ramsey and husband Tommy of Hazlehurst; Christy Thompson and husband Kevin of Hazlehurst; and Jimmy Whalen of Wesson; siblings: Mona Guess of Brandon; Becky Lawrence and husband Keith of Oxford; Earl Guess Jr. and wife Emily of New Hebron; Donna Gray and husband Tim of Mendenhall; Cindy McDonald of Georgetown; and Albert Williamson and wife Lisa of Bogue Chitto; grandchildren: Thomas Patrick Ramsey, Leah Katlyn Thompson, and Haley Whalen; great-grandson: Brantley; fifteen nieces and nephews; and many cousins and friends who knew her as Aunt Patsy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl Guess Sr. and Louise Grisham Satterwhite; her brother, Mike Guess; and Wilbur Satterwhite.
Memorials may be made to Pearl Valley Baptist Church, 2080 Pearl Valley Road, Wesson, MS 39191 or Lowe Cemetery Fund, Lowe Cemetery Road, Hazlehurst, MS 39083.
