Gerald Pressley Williams I, 73, passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family and friends on Friday, September 12, 2025 at Hock Family Pavilion in Durham. He was born in Oxford, NC, the son of the late Robert Presley Williams and Margaret Hart Williams. In addition to his parents, Mr. Williams is predeceased by his brother, Ronald David (Robin) Williams; and sister-in-law, Becky (Edward) Wheeler.
Gerald was born and raised in Oxford NC and graduated from J.F. Webb High School in 1970. He was employed by Allenton Management for 47 years as a property manager. He enjoyed spending his free time with his best friend Dolly Lil'bit the maltipoo, and traveling to Tennessee and North Dakota to visit his son. He was a long time member of Edgewood Baptist Church in Durham NC.
Mr. Williams is survived by his wife of 52 years, Jackie Fowler Williams; son, Gerald P. Williams II (Chance Smith), brother, James Robert (Betsy) Williams; in-laws, Ann (Steve) Vaughn, Curtis (Joyce) Fowler, Tim (Rosemary) Fowler, and Gary (Sonya) Fowler; and great many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers: Tim Fowler, Gary Fowler, Blane Latta, Dylan Dickerson, Bob Williams, Hunter Williams, and Dickey Elliott.
Honorary Pallbearers: Curtis Fowler, Ed Wheeler, Arnold Spell and present and former staff of Allenton Management, Larry Barnes, James Grant, and Ken Gooch.
A funeral service will be held at 11:30 am on Tuesday, September 16th at Edgewood Baptist Church. Viewing will be held prior to the service from 10:30 to 11:15 am in the church sanctuary. The family will visit with friends on Monday, September 15th from 4:30 to 6:30 pm at Edgewood Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Edgewood Baptist Church Music Ministry or Duke Homecare and Hospice Make a Gift to Duke
