Gerald “Jerry” Remmil Willis, affectionately known as “Paco” by his colleagues, passed away peacefully at his home in Macomb, Michigan, on August 26, 2025, at the age of 86.
Born on March 27, 1939, in Detroit, Michigan, Jerry was the son of Nemo and Angela Willis. He grew up in Detroit alongside his sisters, Betty Mullen (deceased), Diane Heath, and Linda Zbanek.
On January 17, 1959, Jerry married Fay Anne Drumm, beginning a remarkable 66-year union. Together they raised five children: Paul Willis, Mike (Anne) Willis, Tim Willis, Susan Brown, and Beth Stubbs. Jerry was a proud grandfather to 11 grandchildren and great-grandfather to 12 great-grandchildren.
Jerry devoted 35 years of his career to the Detroit Police Department, where he rose through the ranks to serve as a detective until his retirement in 1998.
He will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his love of woodworking and furniture-making, his quick wit and sense of humor, and his love of cooking — especially his famous rhubarb pie.
In keeping with his wishes, there will be no formal services. A private family gathering will be held in his honor.
